There’s one bad thing about homeschooling: No matter what day of the week, on April Fool’s Day, my kids are home. All. Day.
And they like to play pranks. All. Day.
So far this morning, they made pancakes and spiked mine with enough peppermint extract to make it taste like I was biting into 12 candy canes. They even threw a few drops into my milk (but thankfully not as much as they put in the pancakes). Then my son came running to me, saying he cut himself with a knife and was bleeding badly. Um, needless to say I didn’t fall for that one since he was giggling and smiling instead of crying and screaming. But I told him the red food coloring was a nice touch.
Now they are in their room discussing all the other tricks they have planned today. And it’s only 7:30am. Who knows what else they’ll come up with.
And what jokes am I playing on them, you might ask? Well, I am not proud to admit it, but I am an April Fool’s Day flunkie. I can never think of any pranks and when I finally come up with something, it doesn’t work or the kids just roll their eyes and say “Yeah right Mom”.
I’m guess I’m just not that cool…
